Taya Leforte joined the Concussion Legacy Foundation team in July 2021. Before coming to CLF, Taya served as the Support Group Director (2019-2022) for the McGill University chapter of the Concussion Legacy Foundation Canada. In her role with the chapter, she rebuilt the support group and created an international community.
Taya graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and minoring in Behavioural Science and the Social Studies of Medicine. During her time at McGill, Taya was a peer supporter at McGill’s Peer Support Centre, completed a clinical practicum working with adolescents with moderate-to-severe learning disorders, and volunteered with Veterans.
Growing up with a father in the Canadian Armed Forces, Taya always had an interest in the Veteran community, and their families. As she learns more, and becomes more knowledgeable about brain injury, her interest in working with the Veteran community has intensified.
Taya is a lifelong athlete and has suffered several concussions. She continues to deal with Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) today, which has made her passionate about supporting those dealing with concussion, PCS, and CTE, as well as their families.
