Peter Carfagna founded Magis, LLC in 2007. He is the chairman of the firm’s investment committee and is responsible for identifying, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, closing and monitoring Magis’ portfolio company investments. Prior to founding Magis, Peter served as chief legal officer/general counsel of IMG, the sports marketing and entertainment leader, for more than 10 years. In addition, he was previously a partner at Jones Day, and was recently senior counsel at Calfee, Halter & Griswold. Peter is a member of the board of directors of various private companies, as well as charitable and professional sports organizations, including the LPGA. He also teaches courses relating to sports law and marketing at Harvard Law School, Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Case Western Reserve Law School, Ave Maria School of Law and University of Miami School of Law. Peter currently offers his Representing the Professional Athlete course on Coursera as a massive open online course, which is sponsored by Case Western Reserve Law School.
Peter is a summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College and magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School. He also is a Rhodes Scholar.
