Liz Nicholson-Sullivan is a leading advocate in the Chicago area and throughout the country for retired NFL players and their wives and families. As the wife of a 9-year NFL veteran suffering serious cognitive injuries as the result of numerous concussive and sub-concussive blows to the head, she knows all too well the devastating and sometimes tragic aftermath of a career in the NFL. Liz advocates not only for her husband, former Cleveland Brown Gerry Sullivan, but for her NFL brothers and sisters living with the far-reaching effects of neurodegenerative illnesses resulting from years of untreated and undiagnosed head trauma.

Through her work as an ambassador to the Gridiron Greats and After the Impact Funds and as a Board member of the Concussion Legacy Foundation, Liz partners with other wives and advocates to promote awareness of these untreated head injuries. She has been a strong and effective voice for thousands of NFL families as they seek solutions and hold the League accountable for improving the safety of future generations of players.

Liz has shared painful experiences with other NFL families struggling with husbands and fathers lost in a scary fog of early dementia. Through her work with numerous media outlets and strategic planning with an extensive NFL family network, she has been instrumental in spreading awareness and raising much-needed funds.

Liz has worked in various leadership positions throughout state government and politics. In 2007, Liz was named Finance Director for Senate President John J. Cullerton and the Senate Democratic Victory Fund. In that role, Liz oversaw the fundraising operation for the largest state Democratic caucus in the country.
